Along with a great selection of services (including a Visitor Information Centre), accommodation, shops and cafes, Kurow has developed a reputation as an excellent trout fishing location, while the river is considered one of the best jet boating rivers in New Zealand.
Kurow and surrounding areas are also becoming well known for the award winning wines that are being developed from grapes grown in the region, while Duntroon is home to The Vanished World Centre, famous for its display of fossils and rocks, and a visit to the Benmore Dam and lake offer an insight into water generated power in New Zealand.
