Why is it that scammers are allowed to run <strong”>hundreds of Zoom meetings in plain sight, luring in everyday people, and nobody steps in until the money is already gone?

I have personally collected over 200 Zoom Links where David Sevelle’s “Lightweb” and “StrykerFusion” scams are being promoted — yet regulators and Zoom itself sit back until victims complain they’ve been robbed.

We are essentially reporting from the bottom of the cliff, when the damage has already been done. Meanwhile, Sevelle and his team keep using Zoom as their personal getaway car, running recruitment calls night after night, targeting people in New Zealand, Australia, and beyond.

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has now stepped in with an official warning, and their verdict was blunt:

“We recommend caution when dealing with StrykerFusion or anyone promoting its products or services. The FMA believes StrykerFusion’s claims about investment returns are unsubstantiated and unrealistic.” — FMA, Aug 2025

Who is David Sevelle?

Sevelle is not new to regulators. Back in 2006, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) sued him for running an unregistered property scheme called Mega Money, which raised around A$13 million from 70 investors.

The court-appointed liquidator, Justin Walsh of Ernst & Young, later reported Sevelle had spent “significant sums” of investor money on personal luxuries, including an $86,000 yacht. Many victims had borrowed against their homes or dipped into their retirement savings.

Sevelle was permanently banned from providing financial services in Australia. Yet, despite the lifetime ban, he re-emerged years later under a new name: David Stryker.

The Lightweb Promise

Sevelle’s next big play was the Equilux Lightweb. Marketed as the opposite of the dark web, it was pitched as an “ethical internet” where users would be verified to stamp out online crime.

Over 12 years, Sevelle raised an estimated $19–20 million from about 2,000 people worldwide, according to ABC investigative journalist Alex Turner-Cohen.

But the Lightweb platform has never launched. Instead, investors were sold broadcast certificates — pre-purchased advertising slots — with marketing material suggesting their value would increase eight to 25 times. At one point, internal sales documents even claimed the project would be worth $10 billion.

Sydney investor David Coffey, who put in $160,000, later told the ABC:

“[Lightweb] was just leading us down these garden paths, but it never eventuated.” — David Coffey, ABC interview

Crisis Meeting: Refunds Suspended

Following ABC’s reporting, Sevelle held a two-hour Zoom crisis meeting with around 300 participants in attendance. In it, he announced refunds were being suspended indefinitely:

“Officially, all refunds are suspended … In that time we will be suspending any refunds that come to us so that we can discern what actually transposed [sic] and who actually attacked us.” — Sevelle, quoted by ABC

He went on to suggest the scheme’s troubles could become “an international incident that’s going to ricochet around the world like a pinball machine.”

Timeline of David Sevelle’s Schemes

  • 2004–2006: Runs Mega Money property scheme in NSW. ASIC sues. 70 investors lose $13m.
  • 2006: Permanently banned from financial services in Australia.
  • 2013–2023: Promotes Equilux Lightweb; raises ~$19m but never launches.
  • 2023: Moves to Thailand with his third wife, rebrands as StrykerFusion.
  • 2025: NZ’s FMA issues official warning. Refunds suspended in “crisis meeting.”

Entities Associated With StrykerFusion

The FMA has linked Sevelle to a long list of associated spin-offs:

  • Stryker Design
  • Equilux Lightweb
  • BSM Universe
  • Prometheus Galactica
  • Quantifex Coin
  • Stryker Coin
  • Scarcity Coin
  • Ubee Chat
  • Ubee Pass
  • Private Broadcast Exchange

Different names, same operator.

The Danger to Kiwis

The biggest red flag is that StrykerFusion and its related entities are not registered in New Zealand and are not members of any dispute resolution scheme. If money goes in, there’s no legal protection if it disappears.

The FMA believes claims of massive returns are unrealistic, and with Sevelle’s track record of collapsed schemes, refunds suspended, and regulators circling, people should stay well away.

Final Thoughts & Call to Action

David Sevelle is not a visionary entrepreneur. He is a repeat offender with a history of collapsed schemes, bans, and broken promises. Whether he’s calling his project Lightweb, StrykerFusion, or BSM Universe, the formula is always the same: hype, unverifiable claims, and losses borne by ordinary families.

The FMA’s warning is crystal clear:

“We recommend caution when dealing with StrykerFusion or anyone promoting its products or services.”

If you’ve been approached, pressured to attend a webinar, or asked to buy certificates, coins, or tokens from Sevelle’s network, report it immediately to:

Scams thrive on silence. Sharing these warnings could save someone else’s retirement fund or family home.
